Viewing Remote Entries on a map using an Android Device

Within EpiCollect we provide the ability to view and filter data collected on your handset using Google Maps. You can either view and filter entries collected on your phone (local entries) or request (and view/filter) from the central project website entries others have submitted to the project website (remote entries).
|
To display remote entries, from the 'Menu' tap 'Update Remote
Entries'.
This will connect to the central project website and download entries you and/or others have submitted to the project website.
Please note, no photos are downloaded, simply the text data and GPS location. |
In a similar fashion to local entries by clicking on any pushpin,
the ID and Title field for that entry is shown and full details
of records can be viewed (without photos as mentioned)
|
All local entries are coloured BLUE and all remote entries are coloured RED.
You can zoom-in, tap to drag the map around, and by
tapping on a 'pushpin' you can view the details of a
particular entry.
Note: by clicking the 'menu' button on your phone
and selecting 'More' and then My Location' your position
will appear on the screen (presuming that you have GPS
enabled).
Note: all remote entries are now also available to view
via the 'List entries' screen - simply click 'Menu' and
choose the records (local / remote or both) that you
would like to display. |
To make use of the mapping for purposes other than displaying
the location of data entries, we have built in the ability
to filter the data based on the form elements used to record
text data, which we will now detail.
