Collecting Data - Date Fields
Date fields allow you to capture date information in a specified format (eg dd/MM/YYYY or mm/dd/YYYY) to ensure that all date information captured for a project are comparable.
Date formats are set within the Form Builder and can either take the form of a plain text box where the user has to enter the date using the keypad (and adhering to the correct format) or you can specify to use a 'datePicker which presents to the user a date widget which they can use to define the date without having to type anything in.
The following screenshots show the process for entering the date using plain text in the format dd/mm/yyyy:
Should a user try to enter an incorrect date (in the first screenshot above the entered value for date is 28) they will receive a warnigh, which will then allow them to reenter the date in the correct format before proceeding to the next question.
The alternative way for a user to enter a date is using the date picker (this is specified in the Form Builder when defining a date field). the following screenshots show the workflow for a user entering a date in the format dd/mm/yyyy
The first screenshot shows the view presented initially, the date has been set to the current date. Tapping 'Set Date' opens up the date widget allowing the user to unambiguously set a date in the format you have specified. The date selected is then shown in the text box below the 'Set Date' button.
We will now move on to describe entering data into a time field
