Collecting Data

A Single form project - Schools1 (for demonstration)

Now that you have loaded a project, in this section we will detail how to enter data, store and list data and synchronise data to the server for viewing at the project website.

We will firstly demonstrate data collection using our demonstration, single Form project aimed at gathering information on Schools (Schools1). We will also detail each of the text input types and media types in turn, before detailing collecting data for our multiple-form demonstration project - Schools2

Once you have project the loaded, the dropdown on the main screen will show the project name (if you have loaded more than one project, you can select the project name from the dropdown).

You can now tap the 'Start/Resume data Collection' button from the homescreen which will take you through to the project form screen as in the following screen shots.

Three options are displayed:

Add Schools - Fill in a new entry of the form.

List Schools - Lists all entries collected

*The View Map option is available because we have defined a location input in the form for this project. If your project form is a questionnaire that contains text inputs only, then this option will not be displayed

'Add' - Completing an entry - ie filing in a form

The 'Add Schools' option of the menu allows you to proceed with form entry. For your own projects, the name of your form will appear in the place of 'schools'

The first question in the form will be presented and you can work through the form from start to finish. Following the filling in of a question (or collecting of a media input should and be specified in the form) to move to the next question you can either tap the arrow in the top right of the screen or 'swipe' the screen rrom right to left to move forward.

The screen shots above indicate filling in the first two questions on a form. Question 1 is a simple text question and the devices soft keyboard is opened automatically for a user to type the answer. When done, clicking the arrow in the top right of the screen (or swiping the screen from right to left) progresses to the next question.

In this case, Question 2 is a numeric field. The numeric keyboard is opened by default allowing a user to enter only numerical data.

We skipped out most of the form above, however, in the next sections we will detail the process for entering all the possible field types (text and media) within EpiCollect+.
